Call for Barwon Woman of the Year 2023 nominations
Call for nominations for 2023 Barwon Woman of the Year
Nominations Close on January 29
Every day across the electorate of Barwon there are amazing women doing great things for their community or more broadly for the people of NSW in industry, the arts, sciences, social services, education, or many other fields. Many do it without any form of recognition or for financial reward.
The community can show their appreciation for these women by nominating them for the Barwon Woman of the Year Award for 2023. This award brings attention to some of the remarkable things being done by women, the leadership and initiative they have shown, to let them know how much their contribution is valued.
Past winners have included Amanda Cheal from Walgett who won the award in 2021 for her dedication to helping the youth of her community. In 2020 it was Mia Degoumois of Packsaddle who, as the owner of the Packsaddle Roadhouse on the Silver City Highway, also found time to volunteer with the SES, NSW Ambulance, the RFS and to rally the town to organise many community events. Last year teacher, winner of the ARIA Award for teaching music, and more recently a published author, Sarah Donnelly, who had a huge impact on the community while she was teaching at Wilcannia, was honoured.
Nominations are now open for the Barwon Woman of the Year. If you know of a woman over 18 and living in the Barwon electorate who is doing great things for the community, in industry, or in some other field then you should consider nominating them for the award.
