Vaccines in the Narrabri Shire

A large number of you have asked about vaccine availability, a potential pop-up clinic and vaccine waitlists in the Narrabri Shire.

What I’ll say from the outset is how overwhelmed I am with the number of people who want to get a vaccine. Over 400 people queuing for hours on Sunday in Wee Waa highlights this fact – thank you to the Royal Flying Doctor Service (RFDS) and the Wee Waa Aboriginal Land Council for hosting the pop-up.

Today Federal Member for Parkes Mark Coulton MP and I had phone link up about what our respective teams are doing to get more vaccines – especially Pfizer – into the Narrabri Shire.

We’re both committed and are working our respective Governments to see a pop-up in Narrabri and a steady stream of vaccine supply into the Shire. I have spoken to HNE Health about getting increased vaccines and a pop up into the community.

The local medical providers are doing a fantastic job getting as many people vaccinated as possible, they’re also doing a great job of lobbying for more vaccines. They’ll keep doing that as long as there is demand. So will I.

I’ve had a few people say it’s impossible to get any vaccine in Narrabri – that’s not the case.

My team have spoken to the medical providers in town to get a picture of their vaccine availability and appointments. As of today this is the current situation, noting that vaccine waitlists will change as we get more vaccine into the community.

• Wee Waa Health Service will be operating an Astra Zeneca clinic each Tuesday for the month of September.

• You need to select AstraZeneca as the preferred vaccine, select Moree Health Service as immunisation site. Once you have registered you will receive a phone call from health staff to book your appointment in Wee Waa.
