Update on the closure of the Ivanhoe Correctional Centre

Corrective Services NSW has brought forward the last inmate date for Ivanhoe to 10 June 2020.

Corrective Services has advised that they have had to make this decision in response to COVID-19, the staff being redeployed are needed in other Corrections facilities across the State.

Two staff will remain onsite in a caretaker capacity for the foreseeable future to provide site security and continuity of the meals on wheels service.

Last week the Minister for Corrective Services Office informed me that the discussions with parties who are interested in the Ivanhoe facility is ongoing.

At this stage they aren’t able to publicly release any information as to who these parties are. I'm hopeful that we’ll be able to provide you with more details soon.
