The Speaker of the NSW Legislative Assembly, Mr Jonathon O’Dea was in Narrabri this week. I took the opportunity to show the Speaker some of the sights and introduce him to local business owners, and some members of the community.

We were able to attend several businesses, including the Black Snake Distillery and talk to business owners about how the current economic conditions and trade were affecting their bottom line. I also managed to get the Speaker up to the peak of Mt Kaputar for the amazing views and frankly, keeping him hostage for the trip out and back to talk about Barwon.

The Speaker controls the Debate in the Legislative Assembly, when people can make a contribution and when they are pulled up. Given he has listened to me talk about Barwon for two years, I wanted to take the opportunity to detail some of the issues one to one.

We ended the day with dinner at Thai home, with Sally and Boyce Alexander, and Stephen Booby. The Speaker was able to make Sally's night by sending a message to the Premier on her behalf - to her credit the Premier responded thanking Sally for her best wishes.

The Speaker has committed to come back to Barwon and I will get him to some smaller and more remote communities. The visit was extremely positive and I look forward to the next one.
