Open Road Speed Limits

The Federal Government is considering a recommendation to lower the default speed limit on country roads from 100km/h to 80km/h. This proposal would have an unacceptable impact on the daily lives of country people. A lower speed limit means longer trips and less time in the day for family, community and work.

The NSW Government has promised to listen to the views of country people before considering lower speed limits.

We, the undersigned, believe country people deserve respect for our ability to drive to local conditions, and we reject this nanny-state proposal to remove our freedoms.
