National Parks Survey

More and more pastoral stations in western NSW are being bought by the government and transformed into National Parks.

Local people are concerned that these purchases deprive communities of productive businesses. The former stations become breeding grounds for feral animals that invade neighbouring properties. Local councils also suffer as these new National Parks don’t pay rates.

With more National Park purchases on the horizon, Roy believes that local communities deserve better.

Roy wants to hear from you about what you’ve observed and the changes you’d like to see.

He will use your feedback to develop solutions. We should be able to get better environmental outcomes without contributing to the feral animal problem and without hollowing out local economies.

A: 30 years ago i wrote a report the B Carr government that they need to save large tracks of private property before it’s turned into wheat paddocks . Once I could drive around and see 10 or 20 mallee hens .
I seen first hand block of mallee pushed over where these mallee hens had nest and now gone forever.
My only concern is not letting access to those new parks . Some of these parks beekeeper put the our bees in now have been locked out ..
Most people complaining about ferral animal and weeds .
But my biggest finding is National Parks don’t not have enough staff to run our parks .
As a lease holder of National Parks beesites I have one ranger the looks after 12 parks covering 200,000 plus hectares and never gets time to check them.as she in the office most days .
    Fire management e.g. fire trials.
    Tourism is not exploited enough.
National Parks being handed over to first nations that belong to everyone . Edwards river Werrie State forest toured into National then into private property to for first nations people only y to be locked up

As it was a important beekeeping area to me and others. We didn’t receive compensation for the lose of our beesites and if current talks fail legal action will be coincided.

Camping on the Edwards river was the biggest loser and on Any weekend you would see 10 to 20 campers especially cod season.
We need to protect what’s left of our environment.

And the 30 30 plan to save our environment should not be just turning state forest into national parks

    Regards
    Stephen McGrath
