Mobile office visits across the electorate
Staff from my Cobar and Narrabri electorate offices were in Lake Cargelligo, Condobolin, Coonabarabran and Gilgandra between 30 September and 9 October 2020.
Whilst I was in Wanaaring, Tibooburra, Broken Hill and Dubbo in the past two weeks, the Cobar team set the first mobile office in Lake Cargelligo at the Lower Lachlan Community Service building on 1 October.
The key issues captured on behalf of constituents at Lake Cargelligo were as follows:
- Concerns over provision of aged care services and availability of adequate beds for aged groups.
- Request over better recycling facilities for the community, and
- Concerns over local roads.
My team also met with representations from the 'Down the Track' youth organisation to hear of their effective and excellent work in helping local youth. I will follow-up on their needs and that of the constituents at Lake Cargelligo with the relevant Ministers in Parliament in the coming weeks.
With the Barwon electorate being the largest in NSW at 44% of the land mass, I made the decision to send my staff out to meet constituents as part of the mobile office initiative. The feedback obtained from the constituents has been very positive, and this gives us encouragement to future mobile offices.
Initiated over a month ago, the mobile offices will be held every three months at locations across the Barwon electorate to meet locals and discuss the issues important to them. This will enable the provision of services to the smaller communities across the Barwon electorate. To date eight mobile offices have been conducted.
Future dates and venues will be advertised in local newspapers, on my Facebook page and on the local radio stations.
