Disgust at abusive letters sent to struggling farmers

Abusive letters sent to struggling farmers is disgusting behaviour Image

I was disgusted to learn that drought ravaged farmers were receiving letters from low life individuals urging them to harm themselves.

This type of behaviour is just not on, especially when farmers have enough on their plate.

I have made the Police Minister aware of the situation; he’s indicated to me that the origin of these letters will be investigated.

I would urge anyone who has received the letter to make it known to Police.

To our farmers, I’m behind you, and I’m doing everything I can to secure more immediate drought support for you and the community.

The views expressed in the letter, are those of a person that cannot comprehend the emotional toll keeping your stock alive is having. They are the views of a heartless individual.

If you need to talk to someone about how you’re feeling, I would encourage you to call Lifeline on 13 11 14 or Beyond Blue on 1300 224636.

Please everyone; check in on your mates, together we’ll get through this drought.
