It was a pleasure to host Minister for Families, Communities and Disability Services, Gareth Ward in Broken Hill. The Minister travelled out to Barwon to talk about Youth Justice – focusing on how we can prevent our kids from entering into the system, including the role of the community, Police, Schools, and non-Government organisations.

It was a great opportunity to sit down with a number of organisations working in this space to talk about practical solutions, gaps in support, and areas that the Government needs to step into.

I would like to thank all the groups and individuals who took the time to tell the Minister what was happening in their respective areas, and thank the Minister for his genuine interest in improving the services available to people in Barwon. The Minister has committed to working with me on improving outcomes in Barwon, which will include making more trips out to the electorate.
