Join Roy’s Team - Electorate Officer

 

Full-time role

 

The Barwon electorate team are looking for a new member to join them as soon as possible. If you live in and love regional NSW and are passionate about regional issues like health, education and more, then this might be just the role for you.

 

An electorate officer has exceptional customer service skills, as well as a high level of oral and written skills, that attention to detail really is a must!

 

Day to day, this position will be busy providing direct diary management and logistical support to the Member by liaising with Government departments and stakeholders as well as the Barwon team. Your organisational ability is going to need to be pretty good, so any experience organising and managing projects, teams or administration will be favourable.

 

What else you ask? Well, on top of being able to work in one of the coolest teams going, you’ll get to actually help people each and every day. The Barwon team covers a range of issues for every type of person who lives in the Barwon electorate, that’s over 70,000 people! We respond, chase, follow-up, and brief, and we have access to great software to help us get it done. Being savvy and proficient in MS Office applications will definitely push you to the top of the short list.

Note: This position will ideally be based in either our Cobar or Narrabri office. This position needs to be five days a week, but if you’re exceptional, there may be some flexibility. So, if you think you’re perfect for us but 9 am – 5 pm could be difficult, give us a ring.

The nitty gritty

The office operates as a dedicated team responding to constituent enquiries and supporting the electorate activities of the Member.

The duties of the position include: 

  • managing electorate diary appointments for the Member,
  • liaising with Government departments and other organisations, 
  • responding to constituents’ requests for information and assistance
  • drafting correspondence and maintaining records,
  • data entry and database management, and
  • general office duties and administration as directed.

 

Applicants should possess the following skills and experience:

  • Strong administrative and customer service skills
  • Ability to strategically forward plan
  • Exceptional oral & written communication skills with an attention to detail
  • Excellent organisational ability
  • Work cooperatively within a team
  • Work with minimum supervision
  • Well-developed IT skills, particularly MS Office
  •  

A general knowledge of the electorate of Barwon is preferred but not essential.
